Building Business Based on DPC Concept

As I studied Elder David A. Bednar's speech about the foundation of BYU-Idaho as a DPC-Disciple Preparation Center; comparative to the MTCs throughout the world, I began to wonder how I could make my business a DPC. The first requirement is that is "rather isolated geographically". The old Victorian home I'm about to close on definitely fits this requirement. It is about two miles from anything other than a few small farmhouses. It sits up on a hill, where it is visible, and accessible, but the road it is down is moderately used and quite rural. The next requirement is that people reside or study there for relatively short periods of time. That is perfect because the property will be rented out as an "AirBnB" or family retreat for weddings, family reunions, wellness conferences, or preparedness conferences, and trainings. In difficult times, it can be used as a hospital or refuge. It will also house a small herb shop, a community garden, aquaponics, and a small lake or river. As we serve the community and provide education for families and community collaboration, we become a "temple of learning". Currently, the house is about two hours from Springfield, Missouri where the closest temple is being built. It is about four hours from St. Louis, Missouri. This does not qualify as a DPC. However, it is only a half hour from West Plains, MO. The stake reports that they are baptizing, on average, seventy new members, and more are moving in weekly. I could see a new temple being built in that area in the next few years. When praying for the right house, I asked that it be near a temple. I felt a confirmation of the Spirit. When we found that house, we knew it was right, but it wasn't near a temple, nor did it have enough land. As we looked into the history of the home, we found that it was originally for sale with thirty acres, including a lake, a forest, and a river. It also backs up to the Mark Twain National Forest. Once we own it, we plan to find out who owns the land and inquire about purchasing some of it. As we prayed about it, I brought up that it wasn't near a temple, and the thought came to me that there may be one in West Plains soon. I would love that. There is currently a FamilySearch center in West Plains, so I'm hoping I can simply be transferred there, rather than released from my mission. The retreat is surrounded by branches and stakes of Zion. Though the people there drive up to fifty miles for church, the branch is growing at a very fast rate with new converts and new move-ins. Every ward we attended in Missouri, no matter where in the state it was, the members told us that they have a steady influx of members moving in every week. It won't be long before it all fills in. Since I won't be moving in for three years, there is plenty of time for it to grow, gain a temple, and become exactly what we want. I am so grateful for the Lord's plan, which is so much better than mine. I am excited to build our training center quickly.
