Childhood Dreams Can Come True

Why do you think Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams? Do you feel that dreaming is important? Why or why not? Discuss at least one of your childhood dreams. Explain why you believe you can or can't. Randy Pausch acheived many of his dreams from his childhood because he had good parental support, a possitive attitude, and a belief that brick walls should be broken down. He didn't give up on his dreams. He kept them insight, and didn't stop working toward them when things got hard. In my kitchen is a plaque that says, "God gives us dreams too big, so we can grow into them." I believe in dreaming. I believe in being extra; that everything we do should be done with gusto. If you're going to dream, then dream big! Dreams give our lives meaning. That meaning becomes drive. Drive becomes passion. Passion makes our life fulfilled. When I was young, I dreamed of being a private investigator and an architect. I loved old things. My mother had several Native American artifacts, as well as several European tea cups and saucers, gold leafed vases, and crystalware. I loved them all! I remember a book hand made on homemade paper with dried, pressed flowers glued to each page. The cover was made of an intact alabaster shell. It was beautiful! I loved all the stories of how my ancestors found each artifact. Now, as a grown woman, I have regularly read through old books and newspapers, drink from or display tea cups and crystal, and love alabaster shell, just like an archiologist. I get to be a private investigator too! I find dead people! As a genealogist, I have learned to investigate, analyze information, and report on my findings... just like an investigator. I can see what Randy Pausch meant when he said, "If you live your life the right way, the Karma will take care of itself. The dreams will come to you." I believe that is true, and that it is how things were designed to be. We are God's children, so we are co-creators in the world of miracle creation. I love knowing that if I can dream it, Heavenly Father and I can make it happen. The scriptures tell us to "ask" and to "seek", "knock". Our dreams, or visions are placed in our hearts and minds, that we might venture out of our comfort zone and learn to trust God.
