Attitude is Everything!

President Thomas S. Monson, in his talk An Attitude of Gratitude (April 1992), encourages us to lift ourselves and others, refuse to stay in a negative thought, cultivate an attitude of gratitude. He said, "If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues. I have long felt that gratitude is a mind-set of nobility. When we choose to see the good in our lives, choose to see the Lord's hand in our lives, the Lord showers more blessings upon us. It has been interesting to me that, even if I wake up with terrible energy. If I spend time first thing in the morning saying prayers of gratitude, I find that the very vibratory state in which my body resides is raised to a higher frequency. In other words, my spirit is lifted to a happier place and my body's cells feel as if they begin to heal and regenerate. Finding all the ways the Lord blesses me creates a deeper level of gratitude which brings my soul into harmony with God. In Acton Hero, Larry North, we learned that in business, attitude is essential. Larry says that entrepreneurs should “believe in themselves, their friends, their communities,” But I believe that true gratitude goes much deeper than simply believing in yourself. True gratitude is found in the little things… in the fragrance of the flowers, the sweet dirt smell during a rainstorm, or the kind words of a friend or loved one. It is that feeling of warmth you get when you know your prayer was just answered. It is in the warmth of the sun, or the cool of the ocean waves. It is the feeling you have inside when things that were out of order suddenly fall into place. Gratitude is everything!
